6 Speed Overdrive Transmission – Plain Case – 1991-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail
JIMS® is proud to offer 6-speed overdrive transmission gears made in the U.S.A. by JIMS®. Imagine riding down the road at 75 MPH in 5th gear and by shifting into 6th you reduce your engine RPM by almost 500 RPM.’s. It’s possible to have this option with the strength and reliability of JIMS® quality gears and shafts. All gears are standard width for performance and strength, with first gear being close ratio 2.94, and the last four being the same ratio as a stock 5-speed. 6th gear goes to .86:1 overdrive.
JIMS® Precision-Cut 6-Speed transmissions feature late model improved shift drum and shift lever assemblies. Includes chromed covers, trap door and are shipped complete with bottled transmission oil and instruction sheet.
Gears are made complete on CNC machine centers, and made from materials that exceed 8620 steel. All shifting dogs are CNC machine cut with lead in ramps for better and quicker shifting. All gears are checked dimensionally and for surface finish for quiet smooth shifting. See Additional Information below for fitment.Â
- Come with close-ratio 1st gear, stock 2nd through 5th gears and .86:1 “overdrive” 6th gear
- Gears are CNC-machined; shifter dogs are machined with lead-in ramps for better and quicker shifting
- For use with ’91-’99 Evolution motors, but will fit earlier years if used with ’91-or-later starter motor, clutch and inner- and outer-primary drive systems
- Require a clutch-release rod and bearing, final drive sprocket and transmission lube; all sold separately
